1 Joey trudged out to his car, opened the door, and slammed it behind him in frustration. Sitting at the steering wheel, he replayed the entire fiasco from the afternoon's basketball scrimmage in his mind.He envisioned the ball bouncing off the rim and landing in the hands of his opponent instead of smoothly falling through the net-a critical misstep that set in motion a blizzard of scoring by the other side that started with a three-point shot, followed by two more quick baskets. 2 Joey buckled his seat belt and mulled over the remarks his team captain had made after scrimmage. Although Austin had not called out Joey specifically , he had insinuated that players lacking focus and unwilling to "go the extra mile" would be replaced on game day. Austin's comments stung.
