Betty won't sing of trees and dove. Now she sings of heart and love. She has been struck by cupid's arrow. I tell her she is in for sorrow. We used to hike and swim and play. Now Betty dreams, and sings all day. She writes poetry to herself. and hides them in a secret shelf. The culprit is the movie she saw- that shows a prince and a happy ending I'm tired of Betty staring in awe, forgetting there's homework pending If she won't help me with my math. or forget to walk me to school. she will have to face my wrath. My Betty can't be such a fool! What statement does the theme of this poem make? A. People act foolish when they think they are in love. B. Most movies show a prince and a happy ending. C. If you only sing or dance, you will ignore school. D. People need their friends to help them with math.

The theme of this poem is that people can act foolish when they think they are in love. The speaker in the poem is expressing their frustration with Betty, who has become distracted by her romantic feelings and is neglecting her responsibilities, such as helping with math or walking the speaker to school. The speaker suggests that Betty has been "struck by Cupid's arrow" and is now only focused on love and poetry, to the point of ignoring her other duties. This theme is reflected in option A, which states that people act foolish when they think they are in love.
