The TCS system was developed to prevent the drive wheels from slipping while the vehicle is being accelerated.<br /><br />Traction control systems (TCS) are designed to prevent wheel slip during acceleration by reducing engine power or applying brakes to individual wheels. They are not active at all speeds, and the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) monitors more than just the speed of the drive wheels. Additionally, deactivating the TCS does not necessarily deactivate the ABS system.
