The three branches of government—executive, legislative, and judicial—each have distinct functions that work together to maintain the balance of power and ensure the smooth operation of the state. The executive branch, headed by the president or prime minister, is responsible for implementing and enforcing laws, as well as managing the day-to-day affairs of the government. The legislative branch, composed of elected representatives such as congress or parliament, creates and passes laws, approves budgets, and oversees the actions of the executive branch. The judicial branch, made up of courts and judges, interprets laws, ensures justice is administered fairly, and can declare laws or executive actions unconstitutional. Together, these branches form a system of checks and balances, where each branch has some measure of influence over the other branches and can choose to block procedures of the other branches. This system helps to prevent any one branch from gaining too much power and ensures that the government operates efficiently and fairly.
