The Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere are always in opposite seasons because of the tilt of the Earth's axis. The Earth's axis is tilted at an angle of approximately 23.5 degrees relative to its orbit around the Sun. This tilt causes different parts of the Earth to receive varying amounts of sunlight throughout the year.<br /><br />When the Northern Hemisphere is tilted towards the Sun, it receives more direct sunlight and experiences summer. At the same time, the Southern Hemisphere is tilted away from the Sun, resulting in less direct sunlight and winter. Six months later, when the Northern Hemisphere is tilted away from the Sun, it experiences winter, while the Southern Hemisphere is tilted towards the Sun and experiences summer.<br /><br />This phenomenon occurs because the Earth's axis remains pointed in the same direction as it orbits the Sun. As a result, the tilt of the Earth's axis causes one hemisphere to receive more sunlight and the other to receive less, leading to the opposite seasons in each hemisphere.
